Testimonials

Jan Carpman and Polly Welch were a formidable duo, guiding our extensive wayfinding work on this large and confusing VA campus. We were impressed by their vast knowledge of wayfinding issues. We (and the large project team) found them easy to work with.

Jan Carpman and Myron Grant are extremely experienced with wayfinding issues. . . they are flexible, patient, creative, and thorough. . . But CGA's strengths go beyond competent work –  they are wayfinding pioneers and passionate about its importance to users with a range of abilities and disabilities.

In selecting consultants, I want to know that they are experts in their field, knowledgeable about my institution, respect our internal politics and economic constraints, charge reasonable fees, and that their products will exceed my expectations. I found all this to be true of Carpman Grant Associates.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights was extremely pleased with the Staff Wayfinding Training program developed by Carpman Grant Associates and would highly recommend them to other Canadian and US institutions with complex facilities where all staff need to understand the layout and know how to navigate independently.

Carpman Grant Associates reviewed our Children’s Hospital plans and made suggestions that we incorporated into the final design: simplifying the parent's route into the hospital and clarifying visitors' entry points.

Our Wayfinding Master Plan, created by CGA, was successfully implemented over 3 years. The overall number of signs was reduced by 40%. Our new signs were fresh, and color and text were coordinated with succinct messages.

I've had the pleasure of working with CGA on numerous projects at two different institutions over the past 15 years. It's clear Jan Carpman and Myron Grant know their business better than anyone else around. I highly recommend this firm.

“Jan Carpman has been the greatest ally I could have asked for. She provided invaluable comments and feedback on every sentence regarding wayfinding that appeared in our final bill, (Massachusetts) Senate Bill 2931, “An Act Ensuring Safe Patient Access to Emergency Care.”

Our workgroup met for five months, and Polly Welch was instrumental in getting discussions going about wayfinding requirements and how important it was to include instructive, direct language within the regulations that wouldn't leave hospital administrators guessing as to how to implement these new rules.

I spent nearly five years of my life working to create, pass, and implement Laura's Law, with no guarantee I would succeed in turning (my late wife) Laura’s tragedy into something that would help all of us. I would have failed without Jan and Polly's dedication, expertise, and unbending support, and Laura's Law would not be as strong as it is had they not spoken so often and loudly for it to be truly groundbreaking.”
